FAQ

What is the CobWeb?

The CobWeb is an interactive mentoring platform created by students in the University of Louisville's Computer information systems department for future, present, and past students of the department to collaborate and communicate. The goal of the platform is to foster meaningful mentor-mentee relationships that go beyond a students time at UofL.

Who can make an account?

The CobWeb is open to all students current enrolled within the University of Louisville as Computer Information system majors as well as past students (Alumni) and upcoming enrollees to the university and department.

Who can be a mentor?

Mentor applications are open to all users but only those who fit certain criteria will have their mentor applications approved by our platforms admins. A mentor needs to be either an upperclassman or alumni, they must showcase a desire to support their student mentee, and have availability within their schedule to take on a mentor role.

What does it mean to be a mentor?

We encourage mentors to build quality relationships with their mentees through regular communications such as, emails, video chats, phone calls, or physical meetings. The purpose of a mentor is to provide students with a direct line to an older, more experienced individual within their same field, of which they have shared experiences and possibly also shared ambitions.
